After Tirta Empul, we went to another Hindu temple complex named Gunung Kawi. It holds one of Bali's oldest and largest ancient monuments. You need to go down the river valley via a steep stone stairway. There are 270 steps but I didnt mind as the view was spectacular. You will pass by a manmade irrigation stream as well as the vast rice terraces on both sides. At the bottom, you will find the majestic monuments.
I didn't book any tour for my 2nd day in Bali. I woke up a bit late so my morning plans to have breakfast in Campuhan Ridge Walk and do yoga in Yoga Barn were scrapped. I instead had my breakfast at the veranda outside my room. The yummy breakfast meal + very good coffee + the awesome view of the pool & rice paddies = perfect way to start the day.
Last year, I spent my birthday in Bali. Honestly, I don't really plan to go somewhere as I am not fond of celebrating my birthday. It just so happens that whenever I get tempting airline promos, I would then realize that the perfect time to book those trips is on my birthday. Spending the moment with peace and quiet is very much enticing. And so, last November 2013, I booked a Bali trip for my 2014 birthday.
