It is already the 4th month of 2018. I started a draft of this post in January but never get to finish. Looking back, it felt like 2017 went by so fast. A lot had happened but everything went by like a blur. It was the year where I left my comfort zone in SG and faced the uncertainty of life in Australia... The start of 2018 left me anxious and doubtful. My pessimistic and overthinking self made me fear a lot of things. The original post were all about my fears and doubts especially with my work status. It was focused much on negativity, that is why I can't get myself to finish this post. I wanted to promote positivity and inspiration in this blog of mine thus I decided to take sometime and just write again when I get to the positive zone again. Oh well, what 4 months could do. All my fears were unfounded and things were much better now. I was offered a permanent position in my current job just when my contract as a contractor was expiring. I'd write it in another post. Anyhow, I just want to reflect back to the amazing things that happened in 2017. My last day at my Singapore company was Jan 21, 2017. I left Singapore for good Jan 22. I took the Emirates flight to Egypt, with stop over in Dubai. *I spent less than a day in Dubai, enough to stroll around with my 2nd cousin who is based in Abu Dhabi. I then went to a 2 week trip in Egypt and I had the most amazing time. It felt like living in a dream as Egypt is my top country to visit. I love everything about Egypt! I then went to visit Turkey which I eventually loved so much! I was glad I took these trips before coming to Australia. *I arrived in Melbourne 3 days earlier than I had intended in order to catch the Guns n' Roses concert. I wouldn't miss it for the world! They are like my most favorite band and I couldn't forgive myself if I miss their Not In This Lifetime tour in this lifetime.. :D * Since arriving in Australia, I went through countless gruelling job interviews and met with rejections . After 2 months, a miracle happened and I was hired in my dream job position without an interview. They just had me start the next day! I might blog about it some other time. I know Axl is not hot anymore but voice is still there. It was an amazing, amazing concert!!! They started on time and no tantrums from Axl. * During my Sydney visit, I was able to see Adele's concert. It was surreal to hear her voice in person. It was no different from her recorded songs. I think her voice is much better in person. She is also funny and charming! * I am now renting a 3-BR flat to prepare for my family to come. I am sooo in love with this house. The first time I saw it in the ads, I knew I wanted to live here. It was just a bummer that they didn't have inspection schedule yet. In Australia, the houses for rent have 15 minutes inspection schedule. The house rental process starts by filling up a quick online booking form to attend the house inspection. You view the house together with other prospective tenants. If you like the house, you fill up the House Rental Application form and submit online. The owners will then choose which among the applications they prefer. I waited more than a month for this house and I called them twice to check if there's inspection schedule already. I was already approved in one house and was about to sign the contract when this dream house of mine suddenly posted the schedule. I delayed the contract signing for house 1 and decided to attend the inspection for my dream house. I fell more in love when I saw the interiors. After inspection I applied and offered to pay $5 more to the weekly rental. I also called the agent to inform I was about to sign contract to the other house so I appreciate it if I could get the result in 2 days. The next day the agent called me to say the owner chose me! I was sooo happy as I thought I didn't have a chance since a lot attended the inspection and I didn't have AU rental history yet. *And the best thing that happened in 2017, was that I get to be with my family! My Mom and daughter are finally here. My Mom is still adjusting especially with the weather but my daughter loved it here! She loves school and she is not shy in talking to people. We think she really belongs here!
*Another precious gift I am thankful for in 2017 was meeting my bf who just embodies everything I hoped for in a partner. My current boyfriend quashed all my insecurities and tore the wall my introvert self put up. I am very independent and I think hard to love. I really don't commit much when I'm in a relationship as I consider it the least of my priorities. I admit I am such a crappy gf and would bulk out at the first sign of trouble or issues... I wonder sometimes how my exes put up with my weirdness and crappiness that long...lol. Anywayz, my bf shows his love through actions and less with words. He makes me his priority all the time that I don't need to second guess or doubt his intentions. He would always pick me up and drive me home no matter how late or how far. He even bought, picked up and delivered most of my furniture and stuff at home and made sure everything was ready when I moved in at the new house. He would reply to my messages quickly and never let me wait. He genuinely loves my family and really made effort to be close to my daughter. Also, he always want us to be together and even tag me along to his guy friend's trips and activities. There are a lot of reasons that endeared him to me and I can't list all of them. The cheesiness of this post is already on overdrive but I just appreciate his love and patience with me. He may not be perfect to others but he is to me. Thank you 2017 for being good to me despite my fears, doubts & uncertainties. Hello 2018!!! Though the fears and doubts are still there but I will try to make this year a positive and happy one! :)
