It was busy anxiety-filled months for me. I’ve been meaning to blog but didn’t had the chance. The courses I took last yr finally caught up to me. It was a struggle to balance everything! I took an online management course and I had been trying to catch up with my assessment deadlines. I’m like months overdue already. I was so naive to think that online courses are there forever depending on your time and availability.... ehrmmm big NO. My online course is only good for one year lol The course ended last month and I’m currently into my 2 months extension. So after this blog post I’ll try to finish my 1/3 assessment left.
Add to my online course, I still have my garment and textile construction classes and glad I am able to catch up with our assessments. I was already struggling with my courses when out of nowhere, my company required me to take an IT certification exam. I didn't want to study it so I really had major procastination until the boss set a deadline to complete the exam. It was sooooo painful studying the entire Microsoft book, CBT nugget videos and practice exams. I dreaded it and I was crying inside every time I study. Eventually, I got interested with the topic but it was still a struggle. Luckily, I passed the exam! Hurray! So I am on chill mode now before I start to study for the 2nd exam, which I need to take before March. One thing I learned from this is to just do something you need to do, even if it’s painful, scary and uncomfortable. I strongly believe these are the secrets of success. :) I just wish I could start to believe in this with regards to me having a business.
Anwayz, back to my fashion design class, we are on our jacket assessments currently. Prior to this, we had a tasks to make a sample jacket from one of our size 10 patterns. I didn’t have enough time to search for a fabric, so I just grab whatever that caught my eye in Lincraft. I am not entirely fond of the checkered wool fabric but I loveeeeeee the maroon(?) satin crepe lining! I am thinking of making a top out of it. The material is so silky, soft and thick to my liking.
I am now on my Jacket assessment where we need to choose our own design. I was thinking of making a complicated one but teacher kinda forced us to make a simple design lol! She had some students in the day class who cried coz they struggled to make their jacket. They were not happy with the end result. She didn’t want that to happen to us. She would rather make us a simple but perfect jacket. I think she want us to master the sewing and techniques more. and I reckon she is right. I found my fabrics this time... very oriental IMO :D I already made 3 toile and I hope the last one will be the final one so I can cut and sew them in my final fabric tomorrow. I’m excited already!
