We went to Tesselaar Kabloom Flower Festival today and it was worth our long commute. I only knew of their yearly Tulip Festival in September which is Spring, so I was surprised to know they also have flower festival this month which is Autumn.
We took train from Flinders Station going to Lilydale Station. It was an almost an hour train ride. From Lilydayle, we took Bus 663 which dropped us exactly outside the Tesselaar venue in 20 mins.
After paying for a concession fee of $22 ($25 normal price) for me, my mom and aunt, we excitedly went inside. Jermaine is free since all kids under 12 are free. I plan for us to go to the food stalls and garden first, but the flower maze already caught our attention.
We then proceeded to go to the long beds of flowers in the middle of the vast field. The flowers are so beautiful!!! The colors are so vivid and the field was semi covered with the neat rows or different variety of flowers. I got really excited with the lavenders and the sunflowers!
There was also an animal petting section which Jermaine got very excited about. She spent a great deal of time here. It was so cute seeing the kids very ecstatic and excited with the animals.
It was such a perfect day for us. My aunt who is visiting from Philippines enjoyed it a lot. It was just a bit hard to take our pictures as it was blindingly sunny, but I am still thankful for the lovely weather. Pardon my squinty eyes... it serves as a reminder to bring my sunglasses next time.
There were a lot of activities throughout the day and there was even an Easter Egg hunt. Sadly, we we were not able to see or join any of the activities as we came late in the afternoon and spent a great deal of time in the fields.
The festival also had lots of food stalls. We only tried the chicken kebab & the twisted potato and both are yum!!! After tasting the yummiest kebab in Istanbul, it was hard to find good kebab here in Melbourne. The only kebab that came close to it was the one my bf buys so I was happy the kebab at Tesselaar did not disappoint.
We then caught the 3:59PM bus back to Lilydale station. I am not sure the exact bus timetable but it may be hourly sched as the next one arrives at 4:59PM.
The Tesselaar Kabloom Festival runs from March 30 to April 15. The farm is located in 357 Monbulk Road, Silvan and is open from 10AM to 5PM. If you need more info, just head to their website here.
